Sandal footprints
Numerous sandal footprints have been found around the mountain, especially near the split rock. Some have postulated that it was one way of saying “I was here.”
Biblical connection?
“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.” Joshua 1:3-4
Early Hebrew letter, Kaph
Curiously, many times there are 3 hashmarks with the sandal footprints (as seen in photo). Dr. Miles Jones has theorized that this is a form of the Proto-Sinaitic (early Hebrew) letter kaph.
In the Proto-Sinaitic and modern Hebrew script, the letter kaph means the palm of the hand or the sole of the foot. Semitic letters also have a numerical equivalent and kaph and represents the number twenty.
